get started with.
Tim – my background has not been in personal training per
se, so I am not best one to comment. I have trained athletes
exclusively, and then taken my methods and applied them to all
segments of the population that require physical training. Quite
effectively I feel. There is one organization that you have
missed off your list and that is the NSCA, which I understand
has a Personal Training certification also. Additionally, how
much study have you done of my writings? And what about the KSI
Coach Intern Program (CIP)?
My goal is not to certify, rather to educate. Finally, if you
were a forum member you could pose your question on the forum at
this site and I would be confident you would receive a number of
balanced, objective and informative responses from forum members
who could probably speak from experience in the matter of US
certification. Consider giving that a shot if you really want
informed feedback. All the best!

For UK organizations, I cannot comment. My focus is and has
always been global.

Q. Is your
coaching program accredited?
What do you mean by
accredited? I assume you mean has someone in some position of
authority granted their blessing. If so, which association? In
which industry? In which country? You may conclude that not only
are our educational processes not 'accredited', but that I am
also somewhat cynical. Further, from my experience, two
comments. If I wanted to maximize the numbers participating in
our education, we would rush to get 'accredited'. This would
result in more volume of business. Second point - I have learnt
that if a person primary goal is to be 'accredited', they are
not seeking the same goals as the goals of our educational
approach. They are not the type of person I believe will
optimize in our approach, and therefore I would tend to
encourage them to seek elsewhere. Our educational approach is to
provide the competencies to succeed in the real world, something
that has limited in common with most 'accredited' approaches.

Q. Have you heard of anybody getting college credit for
obtaining the knowledge you provide through your teaching
resources?
- I have not heard of
anybody getting college credit for obtaining the knowledge
we provide through our teaching resources. I have heard of
our material however being used in college programs in the
US and Canada.

Q. Seeing that the world today looks at "credentials" to verify
ones accomplishments and professional authenticity, do you feel
that it is mandatory for someone in the coaching industry,
especially just starting out, to have that college degree even
though there are other forms of education out there that might
offer more than what you might get in a college course?
- Does the world today
really looks at "credentials" to verify ones accomplishments
and professional authenticity, or is that your
perception/paradigm? Is that a statement of fact or opinion?
Understanding the difference will assist you in clarifying
your direction and what you need to do to achieve success.
Do I feel that it is mandatory for someone in the coaching
industry, especially just starting out, to have that college
degree even though there are other forms of education out
there that might offer more than what you might get in a
college course? If you mean by the use of the word mandatory
'you must', no. However, I believe that it makes it easier
in the earlier stages of your career to get in the door.
Qualifications matter when impressing colleague, applying
for 'jobs' or 'positions'. Ability, results and track record
matter to the client and the market.

Q. Would you say that someone could benefit from both your
educational products and the college education?
If I didn't I can see no reason for creating my education.
Bottom line - formal education will get you a job. Informal,
additional, self-driven education will make the difference
between another
mass-produced, limited thinking, well conditioned to believe
what they were taught at college kind of person and a high
achiever. Do both if you can.

Q. Is a career as a personal trainer a good way to make money,
or are the limited financial rewards offset by the great
feelings of satisfaction knowing you've changed a persons life?
My attitude towards money and
physical preparation consultants is simple - there is no reason
why you cannot make a six figure income in this industry.
However as with any work or business, you will only ever attract
the amount of money you belief you should have. And
income is only part of the equation. Is is not synonymous with
wealth.

Q. What's it like going to a KSI Level 1 Boot Camp?
An elite group of coaches
gathered in September for the only KSI CIP 103 Boot Camp offered
in North America. Here is some of the feedback from that event!
I have returned home to the UK today, after participating in the
KSI CIP 103 Boot Camp in Salt Lake City. Yet again, I can say
with complete sincerity that these three days have been the most
powerful and transforming 3 days of my life, equaled only by the KSI Boot Camp I attended over 3 years ago.
Along with myself and the other individuals who took action and
attended to exploit this unique and invaluable learning
experience. The whole event was headed by Mike Pimentel, KSI
Director of Education, and we were also fortunate to have the
full support and guidance the CMP coach Miguel Charles.
It was a milestone for me to meet some of the people that have
given me so much support recently and through the Coach Intern Program especially Miguel who is my mentor
coach!
Huge insights and progress were made for all involved in the
areas of PROFESSIONAL (Athletic Preparation), PERSONAL, BUSINESS
and FINANCIAL development.
The final day held a huge surprise for myself and the other
attendees. We all shared the evening with Ian and Teresa King,
and their children Summer and Hunter.
My deepest gratitude goes to all those that were involved and
made this experience possible for me, which equally includes my
fellow participants!
--Scott
On my return from the US and
the boot camp, I related to my close friend the experience I had
meeting Ian for the third time, and the time shared with the CMP
coaches over dinner. I explained how Ian is capable of making
such fast, accurate insights in seconds that others wouldn't see
in years. A few minutes in Ian's company has more powerful,
resonating effects than hours with even the smartest/most
positive people I have met. My friend said "wow, sounds like a
powerful/special person."
I am not saying this to inflate Ian's ego, but to illustrate
what is capable when we are dedicated to fulfill our potential.
I know hardly anything, but to the best of my "knowledge" we are
only here one time round, so we had better make the most of it
and of ourselves! So much to do, learn, become and teach. We
need never be bored for one moment. Even with tireless effort we
will only achieve some of what we are capable of.
