the Journey of the top KING Coaches!

How
does one sum up the pinnacle of 4+ years of experiential
learning?
4+ years
of consistent growth which have resulted in a 180 degree
turn around in mindset, lifestyle and business
achievement. Some may call it a “graduation” – very
appropriate for spring in the United States. However,
what happens when the experience takes you from Boston,
Massachusetts half way across the globe to Australia,
where their winter is just beginning and the school year
is still in full swing?
I can give
you the answer to this as I’ve had the great fortune to
experience it. In doing so, became one of two people
to achieve two world firsts. The first is becoming a
graduate of Ian King’s KSI University Coach Mentoring
Program (CMP). The second is to be extended an
invitation to come to Australia for the purpose of
studying and observing Ian with a professional athlete.
Being a
graduate of the CMP is so much more than receiving a
diploma (because there isn’t one!) It’s so much more
than receiving a certification (because there’s not one
of those either!). It’s the process and journey of
becoming more in life. It’s the result you achieve as
the natural consequence of becoming more and doing
more. My graduation and diploma are in the measurement
of my own successes rather than a piece of paper.
KSI has
the mantra of “achieving balance for a global future”.
It delivers on that premise by guiding its students to a
better awareness of balance and more importantly the
knowledge, confidence and action to achieve balance in
life.
I can say,
as a result of my 4+ year experience, I have become,
done and have so much more than in the years previous.
My ability to service clients has increased 10 fold,
resulting in increased business profitability, which has
enhanced my ability to manage money for a solid
financial future. The common denominator to these three
areas has been my ability to improve and change as an
individual and as well as the complete faith in my
ability to do so. This achievement has been the result
of great mentorship (and the achieving is far from
over!).
The second
“first” was the invitation from Ian to come to
Australia, to study and observe him in action.
Understand the enormity of this opportunity as much of
what Ian does or has done with his athletes has been and
will be behind closed doors. It is with good reason
that he conducts sessions this way.
One reason
is that Ian is performing such unique processes, it's
worth keeping away from undeserving eyes. Another
reason is his respect for his client’s privacy and as
well as his own. Another reason is the elimination of
all distraction to allow for the highest level of
achievement focus possible.
What I
observed in a week of consistent 8-10 hour days, on a
mountain top, in Australia would fill volumes.
Fortunately, I was well prepared over the 3 years in the
CMP to take on what I saw and heard. What unfolded in
front of me was a consistent working example of the KSI
education, which I had received, at the highest level.
Ian
demonstrated the unconscious competence of a skillful
teacher and coach who works together with a committed
student, open to the process (the training and
competitive process of the athlete). Everything which
Ian had prepared us for, in the 3 years previous, was
laid in front of us over the course of our stay. A
seamless flow of information, philosophy and method -
each with a consistency of its own and yet each
supportive of the other all directed at achieving a
result.
The
athlete, having had prior experience with Ian, was very
much a partner in the process, supplying information and
perspective in the training process that one would think
only a high level coach would possess. To the contrary,
I believe the athlete, as a result of his experiences
with Ian, has better working knowledge of the training
process than most coaches at the elite level!
It's hard to
describe the amazing week that I spent in Australia. What a
beautiful country! A dream of mine 4 years ago was to watch
Ian train an athlete. With Ian now in semi retirement I
wasn't sure that would ever come true!
It all started on a
Sunday night weekly CMP conference call. Ian wanted to talk
to me after the call. First he congratulated me for
completing the CMP program. Then he invited me to watch him
train a professional athlete as a gift for my commitment!
Now I start to
sweat. I did it! 4 years of continued improvement, in
personal, professional, business and financial development.
My dream has come true. To watch him train some one in a
real live situation! I was not sure if the chance would ever
come again - I had to be there!
The experience was
learning at the highest level. Not just learning skills
about athletic and physical preparation. Everything I have
watched on tape/DVD, read in the required reading for the
program, learned in the 7 boot camps I have participated in
was integrated into this 10 days. And more!
The athlete was very
powerful, intelligent and very humble. He knew so much about
the training process and Ian's method. I was amazed. His
mind set and word selection reminded me of the high level
commitment Ian is always expecting to get from the people he
works with. But then - he had been working with Ian for a
number of years, and that's what happens!
The balanced
lifestyle we talk and read about is how Ian's lives his life
and brings out the best in the people around him to do the
same. Each day was focused, achieved a lot, yet
balanced in various aspects of life.

We also got the
chance to meet a couple of Ian's former athletes and now
successful business people. It was all such a powerful
experience!
From my first
meeting Ian at a New York seminar many years ago to now - it
has been such a extraordinary journey. It has changed my
life and my what I see in my future.
The CMP has been
more then great. And the Australian trip priceless. Words
cannot really describe, but I know I was doing what most
only get to dream about!
- Thanks Ian for
the invitation into the CMP years ago, and for the
invitation to Australia! You always over deliver!
