Description: The content is this book is written for those who seek a higher level of mastery of Ian King's approach to physical preparation. A number of concepts deserve discussion at this point.
Over the years Ian has come to the realization that training, at least from his perspective, is not about systems as much as it is about a way of thinking, a philosophy.
Ian seeks not to teach you what to think, but how to think. Therefore he choose not to use the word ‘system’ in describing my approach. Instead, he chose the word ‘philosophy’, and believes this is more accurate.
His approach is more than a way of doing. It is more than a way of thinking. It is a way of being. A way of being includes doing and thinking, but goes far beyond this. It is integrated and woven into who you are and your very existence. It permeates how you live in all aspects of your life. It recognizes the unity of you and the world.
He has chosen to use the words ‘the way of’ in the title of this book. This aims to reinforce that the philosophies he recommends as a way of being – a way of thinking and doing, which will shape the result. It is who you are, what you do, what you have as a result. It is not something you adopt a bit of, or for a while – it is the perennial you, based on a way of being that is applicable in all times, in all countries, for all people – if you choose.
Seek not to determine how you should act – rather seek to become a certain person, who would naturally act in a certain way, and as a result receive certain, relatively predictable results – for both your clients and in your life.
James Allen in his classic ‘As a Man Thinketh’ matched thinking, doing and circumstance in a most powerful and succinct way. As a man (person) thinketh, so he finds his circumstance: As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
Ian believes the closer you come to living these philosophies, the greater the rewards you will experience. The message is clear – become a person who would act in this way, and see the results of doing things in a certain way.
Similar to the Foundations books - this is recommended as a book to study before moving on to more of the 'how to's' contained in the following books.
