1. So Who is King Sports International?

King Sports International (KSI) was founded by Ian King in 1986 in response to extensive demand. In fact, Ian was approached unsolicited by two national league team in different sports in virtually the same week, adding to his already current client base. So he formalized his services by creating KSI.

Between 1986 and 1998 Ian's primary focus was on physically preparing elite athletes, with a secondary focus on coach education. Since 1998 Ian has shifted his primary focus to coach education. A natural evolution of this coaching focus has been the advent of the KING Coaching concept.

KSI currently has coaches in the KING Coaching program in a number of different countries.

Integral to the continuing success of King Sports International and its Vision are the KSI 18 Points of Culture.

2. What is a KING Coach?

KING Coaches undergo the most extensive professional development program available through informal education i.e. outside institutional education. In addition to their already unique professional development training, KING Coaches are trained in personal, financial, business and spiritual development. One more noteworthy aspect of being a KING Coach - they walk their talk. KING Coaches strive for levels of balance and success in all the areas they are trained in. So they don't just teach their clients theory - they teach their clients what they do themselves - live a life of discipline, humility, confidence, happiness and fulfillment!

6. How much cash will I need?

This will be dependant upon which level of the program you are at (e.g. Intern Coach, Mentor or KING Coach). In addition to your KSI Coaching Program costs, you'll have additional expenses common to being in business - such as setting up your office and communications requirements, and for travel. And like all businesses, you'll need additional funds in reserve (which you're prepared to use - if the need arises) as working capital for marketing, networking and other set-up expenses. The amount you'll need depends largely on your own personal skills, expense decisions, and goals - and how big or quickly you'd like your business to grow. This doesn't include any personal expenses.

7. What do I get for my money?

This will be dependant upon which level of the program you are at (e.g. Intern Coach, Mentor or KING Coach).  For example, when you invest in the Coach Mentoring Program (CMP - Year 2-4), you purchase the rights to use the King Sports International Training and Business Systems. This provides you with the complete KSI system that covers client selection, client agreements, and client training.

This will include the right to use the KSI name and logo in nominated marketing material, and the opportunity to obtain KSI merchandizing made available only to it coaches such as polo shirts.

You’ll also get the most extensive, on-going training available in this industry - with weekly training calls, yearly training camps, and a mentor coach to keep you on track, a global support group, and a network of other coaches with whom to share ideas, successes and experiences.

You will also receive referrals from KSI and other coaches, and your services will be marketed and promoted globally by KSI.

Your main income stream will be through training clients, each of whom will pay you for your coaching services.

KING Coaches also have exclusive rights to re-sell the KSI Athlete and Coach Education range, either through direct sales or via an affiliate program.  KING Coaches at the CMP level also have the exclusive rights to deliver KSI Seminars. No, you don't have to have a degree. However we do encourage and recommend you to complete some form of certified training at minimum, allowing you to gain insurance and social acceptance as an appropriately qualified service provider.

Prior experience in training clients will be to an advantage, provided you are willing to let go of some your old ways and implement the KSI systems.

You will need an entrepreneurial spirit, the right attitude, and a healthy dose of motivation! Be prepared to show us how much passion you have for helping others, and show us too, the amount of drive you have to succeed in this business.

12. Who will be my target clients?

It’s hard to think of a person that would not benefit in some way from KSI products and services.

Typically, however, your target clients are those who appreciate value and are willing to match your expertise with their commitment. In other words, we are not just looking for any clients - we want you to be matched with clients who recognize they need what you uniquely offer.

Many of these client services will have used other service providers and realize they are missing out on something but may not be sure what it is - until they work with you!

13. How will I get clients?

As a KING Coach you will receive training on building your client base and sales techniques.  Provided you have at least a small current client base, getting enough clients should not be a challenge - getting the 'right' type of client will be! You will find that as you progress through our training, you will attract/accept a different kind of client. One who is more fun to work with, willing to pay you more, and appreciates the value you bring to their lives!

14. Can I really get results with all types of clients?

Absolutely! You see, the key to improved results is the client… not you. The client is the expert in their training, although they may not realize it - you add the KSI approach to training to what the clients already knows - and you can move mountains!

Add to this the fact that, within the KING Coaching team, at least one of your fellow Coaches will have either worked with or trained in a way that’s the same or very similar to that of your client.

15. What are the keys to my success as a Coach?

A successful KING Coach is results driven, motivated and willing to follow the system. Coaches who lead the field around the world not only have exceptional client relationships; they also contribute to the growth and development of the KSI worldwide.

Our best Coaches succeed because of an eagerness to learn and a desire to help others, a willingness to work long hours to get the momentum going, good people and relationship building skills, sales ability or a willingness to learn and apply sales systems, solid self-discipline, an ability to take direction when needed and to read when necessary, and a commitment to excellence. In essence they live the culture statement you read above!

Common reasons for failure include not following the system, not working hard enough, not being willing to change how you life and think, what you believe in, what your values are, not having the self-discipline to cope with the responsibility of being in business for yourself. In essence not living the culture statement you read above!

16. Will the KING Coaching Program work in my area?

The one thing about physical preparation coaching is that it doesn't matter where you live, the needs of your clients are basically all the same. And while every individual you meet has a unique set of circumstances, they will rely on you to be the best they can be. You can achieve with them the goals of KING Coaching Program - to exceed the clients expectations and goals!

And that's when your services will be in hot demand. So in a nutshell - yes, this system will work in your area, simply because most of the training challenges humans face are universal.

17. How many hours will I work?

Like all new entrepreneurial ventures, the first 12 months in the CMP will be the hardest, not because of the amount of work you'll do, but because the work will be different. The learning curve that our Coaches go through is steep - you will learn more as an KING Coach in the year than you will learn anywhere else.

As a Intern Coach, you'll become a sponge soaking up information from every source - be it other Coaches, books, seminars or from personal experiences… you'll want to know more about everything - which means you will be VERY busy, both learning and running the business.

Being new at KING Coaching, you'll be trying out all our different sales and marketing strategies, trying to find the strategies that will work for you personally in your business…

So initially, you can expect to be spending a number of hours per week studying the KSI material. As your business matures we expect you will be working between 10-20 hours a week in client contact, and as many hours developing income through more leverage methods include the partnerships offered by KSI. You should always budget time daily for personal development study.

18. What Is The term of the KING Coaching Program agreement?

The usual term to complete the KING Coaching Program is four years. You will be committed for a minimum of three years once you enter the CMP (years 2-4).  All agreements past this initial four year training period, allowing you to operate as a KING Coach, require that generally the Coach has conducted himself in accordance with the terms of the agreement during the previous four years.

19. Can you guarantee I will succeed?

No. Your success as a KING Coach is up to you to make it work. We will never promise any specific results, nor will we guarantee that any of your goals or your clients' goals will become a reality. You see, just as you're the coach to your clients… we're your coach and you're the player. It's up to you. We will push you, cajole you, help you, be there for you and even do some things with you… but at the end of the day you still need to do the work and get the results…

Only YOU can ever be truly accountable for your own success and at KSI we know this to be a fact. We will always try to give you the best service we can to answer your questions promptly and with the best available information. We also promise to keep you up to date with new improvements and constantly keep striving to make your KSI system better and more powerful.

20.  When can I get started?

Typically, intakes occur in Jan and July of each year for the KSI Coach Intern Program (1st year), and January only for the CMP program (years 2-4). Don't wait until the last moment. The selection process can begin months in advance, and for the CMP in particular, you will want to be very familiar with KSI, its products and services, and key people within the organization.
