Flexibility Training Series (DVD-R)

Ian King understood early-on the massive contribution of flexibility to the physical preparation of athletes.  He then developed and integrated balanced and successful flexibility philosophies and methods through decades of training elite athletes.

These successful philosophies and methods are now available to you through this program!  The Flexibility Training Series teaches you Ian's unique approach to flexibility training. The level is basic to intermediate, aimed for the end user, new-comer to the industry or athlete. In fact, this program was designed to support a group of athletes traveling to the World Cup in their sport – so they could take ‘The Master’ with them!  This program has benefited many people by guiding their flexibility training!

The program includes an overview of basic applied theory including:

·         Historical and contemporary perspectives of stretching.

·         Levels of stretching.

·         Benefits of stretching.

·         Key works and concepts.

·         Types of stretching and keys to successful stretching.

The program also includes a practical instruction of stretching exercises that can be performed individually and in pairs. Stretching exercises for the whole body are used, and the practical instruction is provided with a real training session approach, so you can perform your training session to the program, with Ian King as your coach!

I really liked the flexibility series! The routines you go through were just what I was hoping to get out of the program - something I can use for myself.
 
I thought the first part was a great introduction to flexibility training, and the benefits to be gotten out of it. We have all read how big you are on flexibility training - this tape tells us why, the other sections show us how. It serves as a good pre-requisite to the other sections.
 
Part 2 gets into the practical stuff, giving a good whole body routine that anyone can (and probably should, at some time) follow. Some of the stretches were new to me (I hadn't seen them in any books previously), and I liked it how you 'do it with Ian', kind of like one of those cheesy aerobics videos - apart from this isn't cheesy. - Good stuff (and good value for money).
 
The stretches in the third part are to be done with the aid of a partner - 'partner stretches'. These are slightly more advanced than the stretches on the previous tape as a form of PNF stretching is used. This sectio provides the viewer with some good alternatives to the other sections to add variety to their flexibility routines, which is important.
 
A great series for strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers etc. Definitely a thumbs up!

After watching your program I have really changed my views on flexibility training – what an eye-opener.  I just finished a one hour flex session and I can already see improvement with your methods - and I am only half way through the series!

My reward for 12 months plus of consistent stretching and 3-4 months of working on squat form is now a great, Coach King form squat! Now, I can begin to get the benefits of increasing loads.
